1930s Mexico City in Richmond
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is hosting a special evening exploring the culinary history of 1930s Mexico City, led by renowned Chef Danny Mena at the restaurant Conejo. Before dinner, Chef Mena will discuss how Mexico's post-revolutionary period transformed traditional ingredients like corn, beans, and chiles into symbols of national pride. He'll also explain how French, Spanish, and indigenous influences blended together over centuries to shape the Mexican cuisine we know today.
After the talk, you'll enjoy a four-course dinner with paired cocktails, wine, and coffee prepared by Chef Mena himself. The all-inclusive fee covers the presentation, all food and beverages, tax, and gratuity. Members pay $87 and non-members $104. The garden accommodates vegetarian requests and non-alcoholic drink options—just note your preferences when registering online. If you need accessibility support to participate, contact the garden ahead of time and they'll work with you to help.
