Art in Bloom: Art Deco Floral Design in Richmond

Get inspired by one of design's most glamorous eras in this hands-on floral workshop. After learning about the bold colors, geometric forms, and elegant style that defined the Art Deco movement, you'll create your own arrangement. Working with vibrant plants and distinctive shapes, you'll design a beautiful composition that captures the sophistication of this iconic period. The class also celebrates Grace Arents, whose vision and love of gardening helped establish Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden over a century ago. All floral materials are provided, so you just need to bring a water-tight container (5–8 inches square or up to 12 inches rectangular, 3–4 inches deep) in black or metallic finish, plus floral clippers. The instructor, David Pippin, is a respected local floral designer and educator known throughout Richmond's horticultural community. This two-hour class welcomes all skill levels and counts toward the Garden Education Series Floral Design Certificate if you're pursuing it. Registration is required in advance, with member pricing at $79 and non-member pricing at $98. If you need accessibility accommodations, contact the Garden at [email protected] or 804-262-9887 x328.
