Basic Floral Design, Part 2

Basic Floral Design, Part 2 in Richmond

This intermediate floral design course guides participants through five hands-on sessions where you'll master key design concepts and techniques. Instructor Mimi Cassick, a Richmond-based floral designer with over 30 years of experience, will teach you about focal areas, grouping, basing, and how to guide a viewer's eye through your work. Across the five weeks, you'll create five different arrangements: an asymmetrical design, a contemporary spray, a crescent shape, a horizontal centerpiece, and a naturalistic landscape design. Each class emphasizes precise material placement using core design principles. All floral supplies are included, and you get to take home everything you create. The course costs $340 for members and $368 for non-members. Bring your own floral snips; nothing else is needed. Pre-registration on the Garden's website is required. This class counts toward the Floral Design Certificate program, though students with some prior floral design experience who aren't pursuing certification are also welcome. If you need accessibility accommodations, contact the Garden at the email or phone number provided to discuss your needs.
