Beginner Beekeeping 2.0

If you've been keeping bees for a few years, this course is designed to help you build on what you've already learned. You'll spend a full day diving into the seasonal management techniques that make the difference between thriving hives and struggling ones. The instructor covers essential topics like preparing your colonies for winter, storing equipment properly, managing common pests (small hive beetles, varroa mites, and wax moths), and implementing smart feeding strategies throughout the colder months. What happens in fall directly affects your success the following spring, so this workshop focuses on the critical practices that help your bees survive and emerge strong. You'll also learn what to do if losses occur and how to build robust colonies for the next season, plus practical advice on capturing swarms and caring for newly collected bees. The course costs $70 for Lewis Ginter members or $84 for non-members, and registration is required.
