Breakfast with Big Bear
Go behind the scenes at Maymont to meet Big Bear and learn about his habits.
Your family will get an up-close look at one of Maymont's bears during this 30-minute educational encounter. A staff educator will share fascinating details about the bear's behavior, natural history, and adaptations while you observe from a safe vantage point as the animal enjoys an enrichment treat in its habitat. The program wraps up with a Q&A session and a photo opportunity to capture the memory.
Plan to arrive at the Maymont Farm by 10:15am for check-in, then walk about half a mile with your group to the bear habitat. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather—the program happens rain or shine unless severe conditions force a cancellation. Kids must be at least 4 years old and accompanied by an adult. Most of the walking path is wheelchair-accessible, though it's hilly with some rough sections. Book your spot at least 24 hours ahead, as sessions fill up quickly and hold a maximum of 15 people. General admission runs $40 per adult and $25 per child; members receive a discount. Maymont members save an additional 25% at checkout.
