Crafting Tissue Paper Marigold Garlands

This hands-on craft session invites families to create their own tissue paper marigold garlands, learning about a meaningful tradition rooted in Day of the Dead celebrations. Marigolds, known as cempasúchil, hold special significance in this observance—their bright orange color and distinctive scent are believed to guide spirits to home altars and ofrendas. Participants will discover how these flowers symbolize life's delicate nature and play an important role in decorating homes, altars, and gravesites during the holiday season. Designed for all ages, this program is part of the library's Hispanic Heritage Month programming. The two-hour workshop takes place at the Twin Hickory Area Library.
