Daffodil, Jonquil, or Narcissus? Learn Classification, Outstanding Cultivars, and More in Richmond
Ever wondered what the difference really is between a daffodil, jonquil, and narcissus? At this class, experts from the Virginia Daffodil Society will clear up the confusion by walking through the 13 distinct botanical divisions within the genus Narcissus. You'll also discover why these spring bloomers are so rewarding to grow—they're among the easiest flowers to cultivate, and in our area, you can enjoy blooms from February through April by planting a mix of early, mid, and late-season varieties. The instructors will share practical tips on selecting, planting, and maintaining bulbs, plus highlight the top 50 Wister Award-winning cultivars recognized for their outstanding garden performance.
Best of all, you'll leave with a special collection of award-winning bulbs to plant at home—donated by Virginia Daffodil Society members and friends. Registration is required in advance through the Garden's website. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The Garden welcomes learners of all abilities and is happy to discuss any accommodations you might need; contact the Garden at 804-262-9887 x328 or via email to arrange support for your participation.
