Dahlias: Harvesting, Dividing & Storing for Seasons of Blooms
Dahlias: Harvesting, Dividing & Storing for Seasons of Blooms in Richmond
Learn how to keep dahlias thriving season after season in this hands-on workshop led by Conner Parrish, founder of Bloomistry and a former flower farmer. You'll discover the best techniques for harvesting dahlias to extend their vase life, plus practical methods for digging, dividing, labeling, and storing tubers through winter for spring replanting. The instructor will also cover options for leaving dahlias in the ground year-round if that suits your garden better.
During the class, you'll get to work directly with dahlia tubers, processing and dividing them yourself, then take home your own roots to plant in your garden. All materials are provided, so there's nothing to bring but your curiosity. Registration is required in advance, with fees of $67 for garden members and $84 for non-members. If you need any accommodations to participate, the garden welcomes requests—just reach out to the registrar at registrar@lewisginter.org or 804-262-9887, ext. 328.
