DREAM CREATURES OF MEXICO: A WALKING TOUR OF ALEBRIJES: AUGUST 13

Take a guided stroll through the Botanical Garden to discover an outdoor exhibition of stunning papier-mâché sculptures created by traditional artisans from Mexico City. These vibrant, whimsical creatures—known as alebrijes—showcase the remarkable skill and imagination of Mexican craftspeople. During the tour, you'll learn about the symbolism woven into each fantastical design, explore the history behind this beloved folk art form, and gain insight into the cultural traditions that make these pieces so meaningful. This is a drop-in experience with no advance registration needed, though spaces are limited to 25 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The tour happens rain or shine (severe weather only). Garden members attend free; non-members pay regular admission. Wear comfortable clothes for walking outdoors and bring water.
