Essence of a Still Life

Essence of a Still Life

Essence of a Still Life in Richmond

In this two-session art class, you'll explore mixed-media techniques to create small, colorful floral still lifes inspired by garden plants. Working with drawing inks, watercolors, acrylics, charcoal, oil pastels, graphite, wax, and tape, you'll layer different materials on Bristol board and watercolor paper. The instructor guides you through experimentation with composition, gestural abstraction, color play, and layering techniques—all geared toward helping you develop artwork that reflects your own artistic vision. All supplies are provided, so you just need to bring yourself and a willingness to try new things. The class meets for two Wednesday sessions (October 28 and November 4) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $78 for members and $98 for non-members. Pre-registration through the website is required. If you need any accessibility accommodations to participate, reach out to the Garden and they'll work with you to make the experience comfortable.
