Exploring Conifers: Selection, Planting & Garden Highlights

Curious about conifers? This two-hour workshop walks you through everything you need to know to grow these beautiful plants in your own yard. The class covers selecting varieties that do well in our region, understanding what makes them thrive in landscapes, and proper planting techniques. You'll also see a live demonstration of correct installation and early care to set your plants up for success, plus tips on ongoing maintenance and how to handle common problems. The workshop wraps up with a tour of the botanical garden's own conifer collection, showing how these plants deliver year-round color and texture. Best of all, you'll leave with fresh conifer clippings to take home and a regional guide to help you choose. Admission is $32 for members and $40 for non-members. Pre-registration is required through the garden's website. Plan to dress in layers since you'll spend time both indoors and outside walking the gardens, so wear comfortable shoes.
