Fall Florals in the Victorian Style in Richmond
Learn about floral design from the Victorian era with instructor David Pippin, a respected florist and educator in Richmond's horticultural community. During this two-hour class, you'll create your own lush arrangement inspired by the full, garden-abundant style that was popular during that period. This event honors Grace Arents, a passionate gardener whose legacy became the botanical garden where the class is held. All floral materials are provided, so you just need to bring sharp floral snips and a water-tight container (at least 3 inches deep) to hold your finished arrangement.
Because Victorian arrangements didn't use modern floral foam, you'll learn traditional techniques for creating structure and balance. The class has a higher floral budget than typical workshops to give you plenty of materials for an authentic, lavish design. Registration is required in advance through the garden's website. Cost is $104 for garden members and $129 for non-members. If you need accessibility accommodations to participate, contact the garden at 804-262-9887 x328 or via email before registering. A transport container is helpful for getting your arrangement home safely.
