Lincoln and the Declaration of Independence

This program explores Abraham Lincoln's perspective on the Declaration of Independence and its role in American history. Lincoln considered the Declaration to be the nation's foundational document, and the session will examine how he drew upon its principles of human equality to challenge slavery and the concept of states' rights. Participants will learn how these ideals ultimately shaped the outcome of the Civil War and preserved the Union. This event welcomes both adults and teens interested in history.
