This walking tour highlights the adaptive landscaping techniques used throughout the grounds, from a hillside garden and meadow to a new courtyard and lakeside paths. You'll see how the gardens blend formal irrigated beds with natural, drought-tolerant plantings—many native to the region—that provide food and shelter for local wildlife and insects while sustaining themselves year-round. The tour is first-come, first-served and limited to 15 participants, so arrive early. No advance registration is needed; simply enter through the Visitors Center and check in with Guest Services before the tour begins. Members get in free, while non-members pay regular garden admission. Tours run rain or shine unless severe weather forces a cancellation.
