READ to Maggie at Atlee

Does your child need a little encouragement with reading? This program pairs young readers in grades K–3 with Maggie, a therapy assistance dog, for a relaxed 15-minute reading session. Many kids find that reading aloud to a calm, non-judgmental furry friend helps build confidence and makes the experience feel less pressured than traditional reading practice. To sign up, call the Atlee Branch Library at 804-559-0654 or register in person. Registration is required. If your child has any physical or communication needs, reach out to ask@pamunkeylibrary.org or call the library directly so staff can make appropriate accommodations. This is a great low-key way for reluctant readers to gain comfort and fluency in a supportive setting.
