Read to Rover
Beginning readers build confidence by reading aloud to therapy dogs—K–2 grades.
Children in kindergarten through second grade are invited to practice their reading skills in a low-pressure, encouraging environment. During this program, young readers take turns reading aloud to trained therapy dogs—a approach that builds confidence and makes reading practice feel like playtime rather than a lesson.
Spots fill up quickly, so families interested in joining should register in advance. To sign up or learn more details, call the Rockville Branch at 804-749-3146 or stop by the library in person. This is a wonderful opportunity for beginning readers who might feel nervous about reading in front of others to gain experience and encouragement in a supportive setting.
