Read to Rover
Beginning readers read aloud to therapy dogs to build confidence and motivation.
Young readers in kindergarten through second grade are invited to share stories with trained therapy dogs. This program pairs beginning readers with calm, friendly canine companions, creating a supportive environment where children can practice reading aloud without pressure. Many kids find that reading to a patient dog listener boosts their confidence and makes the experience feel more enjoyable.
Spots are limited, so registration is required to participate. To sign up or learn more details, contact the Rockville Branch directly at 804-749-3146 or stop by the library in person. This is a great opportunity for early readers who want extra practice in a low-stress, welcoming setting.
