Teen Art Studio: Upcycled Spooky Creature Creations
Teens upcycle trash into creature art—cardboard, bottle caps, fabric scraps—at the VA Maker's Lab.
Teens are invited to get creative with a twist at this hands-on art session. Using materials that might otherwise end up in the trash—cardboard, fabric scraps, bottle caps, and similar items—participants will design and build their own imaginative creature sculptures. The focus is on turning everyday discards into one-of-a-kind art pieces while learning about creative reuse and sustainable thinking.
This program welcomes middle and high school students (grades 6–12) who enjoy hands-on projects and aren't afraid to experiment. You'll spend two hours exploring different ways to transform materials into something unique and original. It's a great opportunity for teens to express their creativity, think inventively, and discover that art supplies don't always have to come from a store.
