VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
Hands-on research demos from VCU at the Children's Museum of Richmond—explore science in action.
Your family is invited to observe real psychology research in action at the museum. VCU psychology students led by Dr. Marcia Winter will be conducting demonstrations on the museum floor, sharing what they're learning through studies connected to the National Living Lab network. Later in the semester, Dr. Virginia Chu's occupational therapy team will also be running a live study focused on children's pre-writing skills.
Visitors can drop by to watch the demonstrations and learn how researchers work, or your child can participate in a one-on-one study session if you're interested (participation requires family consent). Keep in mind this isn't a typical museum activity—the live research sessions happen individually with one family at a time. The demos run on various weekday mornings and afternoons throughout the semester, with specific times listed on the museum's calendar.
