VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
Hands-on VCU research demos at Children's Museum of Richmond downtown.
Your family can step into real scientific research at the museum! VCU psychology students, guided by Dr. Marcia Winter, set up demonstrations on the museum floor to share their findings from studies conducted through the National Living Lab network. You're invited to watch the demonstrations unfold and learn how researchers investigate questions about child development and learning.
If your family is interested in going deeper, you can participate in a one-on-one live study focused on children's pre-writing skills, led by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Participation is completely optional—you're welcome to simply observe and explore at your own pace. Keep in mind this isn't a drop-in activity like typical museum exhibits; if you choose to participate in the live study, it happens individually with one family at a time. This is a wonderful way to support university research while your child engages with hands-on learning.
