VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
Hands-on science demos from VCU researchers downtown—free learning for curious kids.
VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor sharing real research happening through the National Living Lab network, guided by Dr. Marcia Winter. Later in the semester, you'll also have the chance to see a live study on children's pre-writing skills, led by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Your family can stop by to watch the demonstrations and learn how research actually works, or go deeper by participating in a one-on-one study if you're interested.
This isn't a typical museum activity—it's a chance to peek behind the scenes of real science. If your family wants to take part in the live study, it's a one-on-one experience with limited spots. You're welcome to just observe and ask questions, or jump in if the research appeals to you. Sessions run Tuesday through Thursday mornings and early afternoons throughout the semester, with a few breaks built in.
