VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor sharing research demonstrations as part of the National Living Lab network. Led by Dr. Marcia Winter, these student-conducted activities offer a behind-the-scenes look at how researchers study child development and learning. Families can stop by to watch the demonstrations and learn about the research process firsthand—it's a great way to see real science in action. Later in the semester, families with consent may also participate in one-on-one live studies focused on children's pre-writing skills, guided by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Keep in mind this is a specialized program, not a general museum activity, and live study sessions are limited to one family at a time. Sessions run on select mornings and afternoons throughout the week, so check the schedule to find a time that works for you.
