VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

Watch VCU psychology students conduct live research demonstrations right on the museum floor! Led by Dr. Marcia Winter, these students share findings from studies through the National Living Lab network. You're welcome to observe the demonstrations and learn how research actually works. If your family is interested, you can also participate in a one-on-one live study focused on children's pre-writing skills, which is coordinated by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Keep in mind this isn't a typical museum activity—the live studies are one-on-one and happen with one family at a time. You can drop by to watch and learn without participating in the study itself. The program runs on select Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings and afternoons throughout the fall semester, with some breaks built in. It's a neat chance for kids to see real researchers at work and understand what the research process looks like.
