VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown at Downtown Location
VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor sharing demonstrations from their research studies conducted through the National Living Lab network, led by Dr. Marcia Winter. Your family is welcome to stop by and watch the demos, learn how researchers work, and see real science in action. Later in the semester, Dr. Virginia Chu's occupational therapy team will also be conducting a live study focused on children's pre-writing skills—if you're interested, your child can participate in a one-on-one session with a researcher (family consent required).
This isn't a typical drop-in activity, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. Observation is always welcome, but the live studies happen one family at a time in individual sessions. The demos run on multiple time slots throughout the week, giving you flexibility to catch them when it works for your schedule. It's a neat way for kids to see college students doing real research and understand what goes on behind the scenes at a museum.
