VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

Your family can watch VCU psychology students conduct hands-on research demonstrations right on the museum floor. Led by Dr. Marcia Winter, these demos showcase real studies from the National Living Lab network, giving kids and parents a behind-the-scenes look at how research actually works. Later in the semester, Dr. Virginia Chu's occupational therapy team will also run a live study focused on children's pre-writing skills—families who consent can participate in one-on-one sessions. This isn't a typical museum activity, so come prepared for something different. You're welcome to drop by anytime during operating hours to observe and learn about the research process. If your family wants to take part in the live study, sessions are limited to one family at a time, so it's a focused, personalized experience. The program runs several times weekly on select days throughout the semester, with some dates off for holidays.
