VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor sharing research demonstrations as part of the National Living Lab network, led by Dr. Marcia Winter. Later in the semester, they'll also be conducting a live study on children's pre-writing skills with Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Your family is welcome to drop by and watch the demonstrations to learn how research works, and if you're interested, you can participate in a one-on-one live study (participation requires your consent). Keep in mind this isn't a typical museum activity—the live study sessions are one-on-one and limited to one family at a time, so it's a quieter, more focused experience than regular floor play. You can simply observe the demos without committing to participation. Sessions run at various times throughout the week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This is a great opportunity if your kids are curious about how scientists work or if you want to support hands-on research at a local university.
