VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
Hands-on research demos from VCU at the Children's Museum of Richmond—explore science in action.
Your family can observe real psychology research in action at the museum. VCU psychology students, led by Dr. Marcia Winter, will be on the museum floor demonstrating studies conducted through the National Living Lab network. Later in the semester, Dr. Virginia Chu's occupational therapy team will also be running a live research study focused on children's pre-writing skills. Families are welcome to simply watch and learn about how research happens, or if you're interested, participate in a one-on-one study session.
This is a specialized research event rather than a typical museum activity, so expectations are a bit different. Live study participation is limited to one family at a time and requires your consent. The demonstrations run on multiple days and times throughout the week—Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings and early afternoons, plus Thursday afternoons—making it easier to find a time that works for your schedule. It's a wonderful opportunity for kids to see science in practice and contribute to real academic work.
