VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown
Hands-on research demos from VCU at the Children's Museum of Richmond—explore science in action.
VCU psychology students will be conducting live research demonstrations on the museum floor, led by faculty members Dr. Marcia Winter and Dr. Virginia Chu. Visitors can stop by to watch the demonstrations and learn how real research studies work. Later in the semester, there's an opportunity to participate in a one-on-one study focused on children's pre-writing skills—families interested in taking part will need to provide consent beforehand.
This isn't a traditional drop-in activity, so it's worth knowing what to expect: the live research sessions are one-on-one and limited to one family at a time. You're always welcome to observe the demonstrations and ask questions about the research process, even if you don't want to participate in a study. The program runs on several days and time slots throughout the fall, so check the calendar for availability that works for your family's schedule.
