VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

Hands-on research demos from VCU at the Children's Museum of Richmond—explore science in action.

VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor sharing real research happening through the National Living Lab network, guided by Dr. Marcia Winter. Later in the semester, you'll also have the chance to watch live research studies about children's pre-writing skills led by Dr. Virginia Chu's occupational therapy team. Your family is welcome to simply observe and learn how research works, or if you're interested, participate in a one-on-one study session (with your consent). Keep in mind this isn't a typical museum activity—it's a focused research experience. If your family joins a live study, you'll work with researchers one at a time in a dedicated space. The demos run at various times throughout the week, so you can choose what fits your schedule. This is a great way to see real science in action and support university research while learning something new.
