VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

Watch psychology students from VCU share real research happening right on the museum floor. Led by Dr. Marcia Winter, these demonstrations give families a behind-the-scenes look at studies conducted through the National Living Lab network. You'll learn how researchers ask questions and gather information—it's a chance to see science in action without the classroom feel. If your family is interested in going deeper, you can participate in a one-on-one live study about children's pre-writing skills, led by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Just know that this isn't a drop-in group activity—if you choose to participate in the study, it's a focused session with one family at a time. You're also welcome to simply observe and ask questions. This works best for families curious about research and child development.
