VCU Living Lab Research Demos – Downtown

VCU psychology students will be on the museum floor conducting research demonstrations as part of the National Living Lab network, led by Dr. Marcia Winter. You and your family are welcome to stop by, watch the demonstrations, and learn about how the research process works. Later in the semester, students will also be running a live one-on-one research study focused on children's pre-writing skills, coordinated by Dr. Virginia Chu from VCU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Families interested in participating in the live study can do so with consent, though sessions are limited to one family at a time. This is an observational experience rather than a typical museum activity. Visitors can drop in to watch and learn anytime during the scheduled hours, and families curious about the research can choose to participate in the hands-on study component if they'd like. It's a great way for kids to see real psychology and occupational therapy research in action and understand how scientists learn about child development.
