What’s it Worth? Antiques Appraisal & Care

Curious about that old family treasure sitting in your closet? Bring it to Maymont for a chance to learn its real value and how to care for it properly. During this event, you'll have a one-on-one appointment with a professional conservator from the Virginia Conservation Association, who'll give you tips on preserving your item. Afterward, you'll get an informal verbal appraisal from a specialist at Jeff Evans Auctions. The whole experience is designed to help you understand and protect those meaningful pieces of family history. Registration is $25 per item ($21 for Maymont members), and your admission also includes access to the Maymont Mansion with either a self-guided or audio tour—a nice bonus while you're there. Just keep in mind that items need to be portable enough for one person to carry, so fur items, gemstones, and large furniture aren't able to be appraised. You'll need to register in advance and bring one item per appointment. All proceeds go toward caring for Maymont's historic and natural collections.
